PBK offers internships each summer to high school and college students teaching them about the architectural profession. This year, the interns from PBK partnered with interns at Turner Construction and collaboratively worked on a remodeling project that included converting a house into an art studio. The project was split with PBK’s interns designing elements of the project that Turner Construction’s interns will ultimately build.

PBK interns Manuel Grego, Karol Martinez and Mayank Kulkarni are rising seniors in Fort Bend Independent School District. All three are involved in FBISD Engineering Academy which provides exposure to a robust academy and academic coursework ensuring college readiness in the field of engineering.

Over the two-week internship, the interns designed three walkways selecting suitable material and choosing paint colors for the exterior of the house and window trims. Each intern created their own portfolio of designs and the client picked their favorite. 

“I was able to advance my knowledge with the design software Revit and understand its full capabilities more than what I learned in class,” says Mayank Kulkarni. The interns left PBK with a breath of knowledge and excitement in continuing to learn about architecture and engineering.
