This collaborative K-8 School supports an innovative learning laboratory between K-8 students and FAU undergraduates and faculty. The replacement/expansion facility is planned to include new classrooms / studios that are spacious, flexible, and equipped with the latest educational resources and technology. Multidisciplinary Teaching Laboratories will provide a setting where students and faculty can observe, practice, explore, and solve problems as they gain mastery through hands-on use of research tools and techniques. A unique feature of this facility is anticipated to be the Everglades Restoration Laboratory. This new exterior laboratory environment that runs through the middle of the campus will be a premier research facility that will bring together students, faculty, scientists, engineers, and environmental managers to explore restoration solutions. This outdoor research, teaching, and training laboratory will provide opportunities to explore Avian Ecology, Plant Ecology, Population and Conservation Genetics, Environmental Geophysics, and Bio-geography to solve problems such as clean water, red tide and watershed ecosystem restoration.
