The Rancho Cotate High School (TAG) building, by its nature, is meant to connect student learning and activities to the community. This theater, academic, and gymnasium (TAG) building was created to showcase the school’s athletic programs, its theater and dance programs, its orchestra and band programs, and its audio-visual program to the community while maintaining complete sound integrity within each space.

The result is that a varsity basketball game can be occurring in the gym while a poetry reading is occurring in the theater without interfering with each other. However, if the gym needs to open up to house 3,000 spectators, the walls around the stage retract to create a large space for events. This allows for flexibility in scheduling and event diversity in the same space.
