Davis Player Development Center Redevelopment
Client: Texas A&M University
Market: Sports + Events
Location: College Station, TX
The Davis Player Development Center is a 2,200 square-foot addition that provides branded recruiting and performance nutrition spaces. The space is bright and modern featuring an oval-shaped nutrition bar with a football shaped “halo” light above the illuminated countertop as the centerpiece. The wall below is clad with three-dimensional hexagonal tiles that symbolize the texture of a football. The backdrop for the bar is a backlit super-graphic of Kyle Field and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. Supported by a dedicated pantry as well as reach-in, grab-n-go refrigerators, the bar area also provides soft seating, table seating and bar height seating for social functions.
Renovation of some of the existing spaces included a corridor referred to as the “tunnel” that links the addition with the weight room and is themed differently. Specific areas in the tunnel are recruiting touch points where coaches have deliberate and meaningful conversations with prospective recruits, extolling the virtues of the 12th Man and Texas A&M Football. The weight room was also renovated to include new flooring and equipment, including a state-of-the-art sports analytics performance measuring system. Entrances to the weight room were upgraded through the addition of free-standing canopies to provide a sense of arrival and weather protection while being respectful of the original buildings design aesthetic.
