A New Home for Bulldog Pride
Schools are shaped by the spaces where students gather, compete, celebrate, and grow together. At Auburndale Intermediate School, the vision for a new gymnasium began with a simple but important goal: provide students with a dedicated place where athletics, wellness, school spirit, and community can thrive.
Made possible through Corona-Norco Unified School District’s Measure GG program, the new facility represents an investment in both current and future generations of students. More than an athletic venue, the project creates a central gathering place where students build confidence, develop teamwork, and create lasting memories throughout their middle school experience.
Expanding Opportunities for Students
Middle school is a pivotal time in a student’s development, when interests become passions and participation helps build a sense of belonging. The new gymnasium was designed to support a wide variety of athletic, recreational, and school activities while expanding opportunities for students to engage with one another beyond the classroom.
The CTE classroom was added to the project to enhance learning opportunities and provide future scientists with the skills and knowledge they need for success. An outdoor learning space has also been created next to the CTE classroom to give students hands-on learning experiences and greater exposure to nature, fostering curiosity, exploration, and environmental awareness.
The project builds upon recent campus improvements that include MPR and locker room finish upgrades, as well as the addition of outdoor pickleball and futsal courts, creating a more comprehensive environment for physical education, athletics, and student activities. Together, these improvements strengthen the school’s ability to support student wellness, collaboration, and personal growth.
More Than a Place for Athletics
While competition and physical activity are important components of the student experience, the impact of the gymnasium extends far beyond sports.
The facility serves as a destination for assemblies, performances, student recognition events, and community gatherings, creating opportunities to bring students, families, staff, and neighbors together. As a new focal point for campus life, the building helps foster school pride while strengthening the connections that make Auburndale an important part of the surrounding community.
The project demonstrates how thoughtful educational environments can support both academic and personal development through athletics, hands-on learning, and community engagement, creating spaces where students feel connected, engaged, and inspired.
Investing in the Future
The completion of the Auburndale Intermediate School Gymnasium marks an important milestone in Corona-Norco Unified School District’s ongoing commitment to modernizing educational facilities and enhancing student experiences across the district. Supported by the community through Measure GG, the project reflects a shared investment in providing high-quality learning environments that prepare students for success both inside and outside the classroom.
For generations of future Bulldogs, the gymnasium will serve as more than a building. It will be a place where friendships are formed, achievements are celebrated, and school traditions continue to grow.
