Emmet Van Aken

Emmet Van Aken is an architect and Principal at PBK, serving as Client Executive and Director of the Sarasota Office. He leads client-focused Civic, Municipal, and K–12 educational projects, prioritizing strong client relationships while delivering functional, efficient, and aesthetically thoughtful design solutions. With nearly two decades at PBK, Emmet brings extensive experience across all phases of architectural practice. 

Emmet entered the architecture industry in 2008 and has experience spanning planning, design, documentation, permitting, and construction administration. Guided by a listening-first approach, he plays a strategic role in shaping project delivery and designing spaces that balance wellness, safety, resilience, and flexibility, with a strong emphasis on the user experience and the communities they serve. He is committed to his own leadership growth through continual learning, seeking mentorship, and sharing knowledge with others.
