Dr. Robert Long III

  • Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships & Educational Leadership
  • Houston

Dr. Robert L. Long III has led from every seat in public education: the classroom, the principal’s office, the board table, and the State Capitol. As Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Educational Leadership at PBK Architects, he works shoulder to shoulder with superintendents and trustees as they make high-stakes decisions about governance, growth, and the future of their communities.

He started in the classroom and was named the Texas Humanities Outstanding State Teacher of the Year in 2004. He went on to lead campuses in Aldine, Cypress-Fairbanks, Fort Bend, and Spring ISDs, serving as principal of elementary and secondary schools. Governor Greg Abbott appointed him to the Texas School Safety Center Board, where he chaired the board’s legislative committee for the 86th Legislative Session.

Dr. Long later led regional advocacy for Raise Your Hand Texas across Houston and the Gulf Coast, then directed Board Development Services at the Texas Association of School Boards. There he ran Leadership TASB and the Texas Trustee Institute, and his statewide governance programs reached school board members in more than 560 districts. He has taught graduate courses in educational leadership at the University of Houston and facilitated school leadership programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He holds a Doctor of Education from Texas A&M University, which honored him with its College of Education and Human Development Dean’s Roundtable Award in 2025.
