PBK Architects Growing Sports Division, Eyes Collegiate Athletics Opportunities

Sports

PBK Architects, Houston’s largest architecture firm, is rapidly expanding its sports division, with plans to double its current 50-person team within three to five years. Led by Sean Plunkett, the division is focused on extending its expertise across all major sports leagues, including the NFL, MLB, FIFA, and NCAA, with a special emphasis on collegiate athletics. The firm recently added a 12-person team in Virginia and aims to establish a presence on the West Coast by early 2025.

A key driver of PBK’s growth is the increasing demand for sports facility upgrades, especially in the collegiate space, as universities seek to enhance revenue streams to balance investments in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals for student-athletes. This includes projects that offer premium fan experiences, food services, and mixed-use developments surrounding venues.
